It is always a great celebration of the 4th in Banner Elk, NC. There are so many patriotic people that come out to honor our Independence Day. It has to be one of my favorite times in the mountains as all the locals and visitors gather to Celebrate America. Starting with the Parade at 11:00am and then going to the park for the duck race and other games that are the old fashioned egg throws, etc. There will be bake sales, plant sales and other booths. You can see the famous Llamas and pet them as they will be in the park. Food trucks are there for you to enjoy a great lunch! And don’t forget the fireworks starting around 8:30PM in several locations. Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Newland are just a few of the places to go for the light show.
Music in the Park has starts in June and continues through the summer on Thursday nights. Bring your chair out and listen to the wonderful bands. It is a nice night to relax and enjoy the wonderful weather and beauty of the mountains.
Grandfather winery now has music on the weekends and a food truck for you to enjoy the afternoons in the vineyard.. Don’t forget we also have Banner Elk winery and Linville Winery that also has music, wine and fun. Come and enjoy seeing the vineyards and tasting the NC wines.
The flowers are blooming everywhere and of course the hosts and other plants are beautiful this time of the year. The mountain foliage is lush to me. We are still have cool weather compared to other places. I really love this time of the year as it beautiful and the weather is just wonderful.
We have a new art gallery that has opened up downtown in the little White House at the Sorrento complex. The also have opened a new bar called PRIMO… it has more of a New York feel and it very upscale. We have something for everyone.
The deer are everywhere and I have even seen a white baby mountain lion across the river. The wildlife is always amazing to me! The hummingbirds are everywhere this year. When are sitting on the porch they actually buzz by your head. It is fun to watch them fly from one feeder to another. I have learned what I thought was fun play with them is actually being territorial and they are defending what they think is their own feeder. We have had a lot of baby birds born on the property this year and it is nice to hear the babies and see the mother feeding them. Nature is just amazing and every one of them have their own place in the wild and what they do to survive is interesting. There isn’t a better place to see this than the mountains because it is away from the busyness of the cities.
I hope to see you soon. Come and let us help you relax and experience what you can do in Banner Elk and the surrounding area.
