Happy New Years to you from everyone at The Lodge at River Run!
It is hard to believe we have been here over three years welcoming guests into the lodge.Every year seems to bring families that want to have a great time in the mountains skiing, hiking, or shopping or experiencing other things that we have to offer. We strive to make you feel like you are part of our family, yet have a wonderful time in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We have already had 6 snows this year and it is the 8th of January. The skiing will be great but so will the snow boarding, ice skating and tubing. Come and visit Beech Mountain which is about 2 miles away or Sugar Mountain which is around 5 miles away from the lodge. Visit their websites to see all that they offer this time of year. If you like to go snow tubing, Hawksnest is 30 minutes away. It is famous for being the largest snow tubing venue here.
For those who like the mountains, but do not want to ski, Grandfather Mountain is just 20 minutes away and will certainly be a wonderful visit as it is home of the Swinging Bridge and has several animals such as the bears, elk, bald eagle, mountain lions, otters etc. Or visit the museum and learn about the minerals and Grandfather mountain. They have plans to build a new museum that should be quite informative about this area.
You may just want to sit by the fire, read a book and enjoy a relaxing day. If not, we also have wonderful shopping in Banner Elk and surrounding areas. Once you come, I can offer you suggestions of what to do depending on your interest.
The dining in Banner Elk is quite good. We have many restaurants that will please your palate. Let me know what you like and I will be glad to make reservations for you.

I am excited that we will have the fireflies at Grandfather this year. I was told that they are going to have three nights that they feel will be spectacular. I can’t wait to see them. I looked on line and it should be quite the show.
