Things to Do
If you love adventures, you will love staying at The Lodge at River Run in Western North Carolina. Here you will never run out of things to do. You will get to enjoy those coveted moments of relaxation on the porch while listening to the river running and birds singing. Lay in the hammock or hanging bed and read a book, or take a meandering walk along the river. Here at the lodge we have outdoor games, ping pong, bocce ball, and corn hole. You can even fly fish in the front yard!
If you want a more active pace, there are endless activities to enjoy. We can set up a guided fishing float trip down the Watauga River, whitewater rafting with Edge of the World Outfitters, or horseback riding at excellent local stables. Check out zip lining at Hawksnest, caving in Linville caverns, and bouldering in Hebron near Hound Ears. Biking trails at Rocky Knob Mountain or on the Virginia Creeper are not too far away; hiking trails are also abundant in the area, with breathtaking scenery. If you like to dance, we will send you to the historic Orchard at Alta Pass on the Blue Ridge Parkway, where they have a hoedown. Here you can also take a hayride through the apple orchard and hear the history of the mountain presented in an informative and enjoyable manner. In the winter months we have it all: skiing, ice skating, tubing, and sledding. Throughout the rest of the year, you can visit waterfalls, hiking trails, music festivals, and craft fairs. You will never be bored in the North Carolina mountains.
