Happy Valentines!

Happy Valentine’s! I hope February is full of happiness and love for all of you.

I have been innkeeper here for six years and seen so much happiness and love come into the lodge.  We have celebrated  proposals, weddings, honeymoons and couples that want to get away and just spend time with the one they love.  We have Valentines all year long!!

Come Valentines weekend and enjoy complementary  chocolate covered strawberries and wine.  There will be a special emphasis on this special date.  Of course, there will be a special breakfast and cocktail hour.

Let me tell you what is going on in town….  We have a new restaurant in town and I really liked it.  I went to the soft opening and it was really nice. They will be open lunch and dinner.  It has the feel of the mountains and it is very cozy with live music provided also.  The name is Prohibition Kitchen.  More to come with a review soon.

We also have an Irish Pub in the mix.  It is in the Village at Banner Elk.  I plan to try to eat there this week.  I hear good things about it so I am going to give it a try.

We are really fortunate to have choices to eat in Banner Elk-Stonewalls, Sorrento’s, The Chefs Table, LP on Main, Reids Cafe,Chinese and Thai  food, Mexican. If you like game, we have The Game Keeper.  One of my other favorite restaurants is Americana in Roan Mountain which is about 15 minutes from the Longe.

The snow has been steady this year.  We had 13 inches at the Lodge and it was below zero…. Of course, the ski slopes are very happy!  All of the ski runs are up and running so  if you like to ski or snow board this is your year to be in Banner Elk.

Grandfather Winery is now open all year.  You can sit by the gas heaters, enjoy the food trucks  or stop by another restaurant and bring your own. It is really one of the fun places that  everyone likes to go.  I went to a Four course wine dinner at the Winery and they introduced two of their new wines.  I think you will enjoy the new  as well as those favorites that have been there for several years.

I hope to see all of you soon.  Please give me a call or make reservations on line.
