I am excited about this next event as I have never seen an Alpaca get sheared. On June 4th it is Alpaca Shearing Day at Apple Hill Farms.  Alpacas grow 4″ of fiber a year and must be sheared once a year. So  come and see the farm, get a ticket and watch the shearing of the alpacas.  Tickets are $17.00 ages 11- adult, $12.00 ages 4-10, and $3.00 for 3 and younger.  Take a tour on the farm and enjoy a day outside in the mountains.

Since the Mexican Restaurant burned in Banner Elk, I have ventured out to Roan Mountain and found a wonderful Mexican and Seafood Restaurant.  The food is wonderful.  In the Spring when it warms up, I look forward to enjoying eating outside.

I have decided I am going to try new restaurants in the area so I can let you know some places to eat when you go to the surrounding areas.  This will be fun for me, as I love good food!  I hope to be able to give you an honest opinion of the establishment.  Stay tuned as I travel to the unknown spots… I may just find the perfect little place to dine…
