Now to my quest to eat at all the restaurants that I hear good news about…
I will have to say that Gideons Ridge has to be one of the best around
Blowing Rock. The food was amazing, the staff was professional and the atmosphere was breathtaking. You are surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains and from every table you get a panoramic view which is just incredible. I was fortunate enough to see a double rainbow that was truly beautiful! My friends and I quite enjoyed the whole evening from atmosphere, wine to the food.
The presentation of the food was beautiful and it excited your palate for the taste that was ahead. It did not disappoint. The liver pate was smooth and had no after bite. The foie gras was a creme brûlée served with breads (OMG) and the escargot was delicious. We skipped a second course and went to the main attraction… mine was duck and it was fabulous.. I understand the Pork chop (Bone in) melted in your mouth. We ended with Key Lime Pie which is the best I have had since eating in Captiva Island, Florida.
Needless to say, I highly recommend the food and will be going back soon. I can’t wait!! They take reservations 2 weeks in advance so be sure you call so you can experience an evening in dining.
Come and see us at the lodge as we are beautiful!! The window boxes are overflowing with flowers, the beds are full of ferns and hosta and also perennials that have beautiful colors of purples and reds. The river is stocked with trout and we have had several guest fish (Catch and Release). One gentleman caught one that was 18″ and was really excited. I think he caught 20 that day.The sounds are incredible as you sit outside on the porch or by the fire pit at night where the lights adorn the river. The birds are chirping, the butterflies are fluttering everywhere and the wildlife is scampering around the property. I love watching the chipmunks and the deer! I hope you will stay with us and enjoy what the Lodge at River Run and nature offers.
