Hello Color!

The mountains are known for the color of the leaves during October.  It really looks like God takes a paint brush and sprinkles all the colors on the Mountains of the North Carolina.  It is really a beautiful array of color that makes you feel in awe of your surroundings.

Grandfather mountain has a Fall Color Ramble starting October 1st and going through October 10th.  Please visit www.grandfather.com/fall-color-ramble.  You will need to book tickets in advance.  It really sounds like a wonderful experience to be able to hear about the trees, see the color and learn about the mountains.

Octoberfest is October 7th and 8th.  It will be at sugar Mountain.  They will have cloggers, Barvarian Costume contest, arts and crafts, chairlift rides and Harbour Town Fest Band, beer and brats and much more.  I am going to try to go see what it is all about…

The Wooly Worm festival is October 15-16.  Of course you know that the winner of the worm race determines the weather for the year.  There will be worm races, cash prizes, rides, and live entertainment.  The money raised is for the children of Avery County.

Saturday, October 15th from 9:00am to 4:00pm  is the Valle Country Fair. There is free admission but parking is $10.00 per car.  They feature homemade Brunswick Stew, chili, barbecue, sausage w/peppers and onions.  Take home the apple butter made while you watch and wait.  They have wonderful crafts, mountain music and fun.  Try your hand at the pumpkin bowling… sounds like fun to me.  All the proceeds go to those in the community in need.

Come and see us and enjoy what the mountains has to offer.  Sit by the fire on the porch or by the fire pit on the side of the river with a blanket to keep you warm.  It is a great time of year to visit us as the leaves are in full color and the fire is roaring.  Let us know and we can make sure we have what you need for smores.

Just went to the luncheon at the Party Barn in Banner Elk that gives out scholarships for the community.  A nice lunch was served and then they gave out over $500,000.00 to the community of Avery County.  I was so excited to see that the monies that were raised there was distributed in such a nice generous way.  Hats off to the 610 Party Barn!!

We joined the Party Barn last year and are able to send guests there for dinner.  It is a beautiful place that has wonderful food and the chef shows you how he prepares the meal while you enjoy the food.  Come and be a part of this wonderful place that does so much for the community.  It opens in March and closes in October.  You will not be disappointed.

Have a great October!!  Hope to see you soon…. Bobbie
