Fall is in the air

The leaves are falling, the colors are changing on the trees.  I am excited about the fall colors and the brisk air.  There is something about the fall that says to me a new beginning.  That probably comes from my childhood with school starting and everything was exciting as the anticipation of new friends, new teachers and new activities to do.

Now is the perfect time for a hike.  We have wonderful trails just waiting for you!  I think the beauty of nature is always amazing as you see something different all the time.  I saw what I thought was a beautiful small fuzzy worm… black and white.  I started to pick it up and my daughter suggested we take a picture and look it up…  it was poisonous…. so glad we found that out!  Just thrilled it wasn’t a snake….

As you know, if you are in the mountains you will be able to find music just about anywhere.  Check out the websites for Grandfather Mountain Winery, The Hampton Store, Linville Winery, Beech Mountain and Eagles Nest.  Now you can look at Sorento’s as they have bands outside.

Autumn at Oz is on Beech Mountain September 8-24.  That is always a hit for those who loved the Wizard of Oz.

October Fest is on Sugar Mountain October 7th.  It is a fun event and the beer is flowing and the music is entertaining.  I went last year and had a good time.

Of course our Wooly Worm Festival is coming up October 13th.  That is the highlight of the fall in Banner Elk.  Come out and get a worm, name it and then race along with the others.  It is really fun for children and adults.  It is a great fund raiser to support the children in Avery County.  What a blessing it is to have fun and do something that helps many families.

Come see us in the mountains… We always love to sit by a fire and chat.
